Butterflies, hoping for spring....

So last week I didnt manage to do a post, due to the busyness at work priar to mothers day, and then we had a lovely visit from my Mother on Sunday :)

This week, despite being freezing or wet and gloomy, i've been working on my butterflies, with the hope that Spring is just around the corner!
So last month, I had started my orange butterfly, which I had nearly completed.

I finished this one off by adding the hanging ribbon, and used some wire to make the antennae.

I also started and nearly finished another.

This one I wanted to experiment with, adding some lurex thread to the wool roving.

So rather than using my usual colourful palette, I stuck to pastel shades to show up the sparkles of the lurex.

The lurex was a little hard to control but with a thin layer of fleece over the top it was manageable!

I added the hanging ribbon, and for that extra sparkle (because you can never have enough sparkle surely!) I added some sequins!

I just need to find some silver wire to finish it off...

I was in the flow, and I had a little gingerbread cutter, so I decided to start a little man.
I've not made much progress as yet, but thinking I can dress him and maybe add a quaint little bow tie, something I can have a bit of fun with :)

  7. Beautiful felted butterfly. I have all the supplies to start felting but as yet have not had the courage. I like the idea of using a piece of felt underneath. Very nice design!

  8. Gorgeous butterflies :-) I especially like the orange one. Mmm we've got Puss in Boots which the kids are quite into (4 and 2.5 yrs) but I'm not so fussed about! Have a good week, Simmi x
