Duplicate padding...

As I hinted last week, I did indeed make some more of the little padded floral brooches

I enjoy making them, they're quick and fun

There was a lovely suggestion by Red Haired Amazona, (thank you) to also make some pincushions in the same style. I love this idea, and may well put into practice once I find a suitable filling

I've only managed to add a couple of flowers to the mood blanket this week.

I'm still trying to kick this cold, and with work, house chores and ebay, i've not had alot of time. But now I have a weeks holiday, we will be visiting my Mum in Fareham, so hopefully after some rest and sea air I can come back rejuvenated.

This weeks floral inspiration are raindrop petals...

Woodlands and flowers...

It's been awhile but we finally managed to get out on our bikes last week. The sun was out, and the temperature was a bit cooler. We dusted off the bikes, made some adjustments and pumped up the tyres, and off we went. We went along to our lovely local park, as we had the intention of getting out to do some more geocaching. We found two in quick succession, hanging off a branch and nestled within a trunk.

We made our way towards local village, stopping for another, more taxing find, in and around holly bushes, but again we were triumphant. We stopped for a late lunch before making our way back, with two more finds under our belt before arriving home, from a fun and satisfying day.

My mood blanket is slowly growing, adding a few blooms each week.

It was the second week of Wimbledon, and I took time out to watch the Murray matches

I've continued trying to crack on with the rustic lace flowers. I do tend to get bored midway through projects, so I really have to focus on reaching the end.

I find it quicker to work a batch of the centres first, then do all of the second rounds and finally complete the third round and joining

I decided due to the openness of the pattern that it would work well as a scarf. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out...

I've also been keeping up with my mood flowers daily. Although i'm a bit behind with all the ends!

Haven't managed to do anything socially at all this month, but it's been successful craft wise, here's to the next month where we hope to get a better work/home/social balance

We are off for our annual Cornish visit tomorrow, so I'll see you in a fortnight!

Flowers & PJ's

So in my head I was thinking I could get both of my Chrysanthemum cushions completed for this week, but this is the problem, what my head thinks and what is reality are two different things!

I have pretty much completed one though, apart from the last couple of buttons to be sewed on.

I will get cracking with the second and hopefully fingers crossed they can have their special ta dah moment together pretty soon!

I did get a little side tracked at one point. I had been tidying the bedroom, which led to me sorting out my wardrobe, when I found a pair of P.J bottoms that had got a hole in. Now I'm sure the average person would just chuck them, but for me I saw potential! I sat down immediately and starting cutting them up in to strips, and before I'd got too far, I grabbed my largest crochet hook and started a circle.

I absolutely love how this looks. It has an amazingly thick feel to it, perfect to turn it into a basket. A fab quick, fun project I thought, BUT, it totally kills the wrist, and gave me a shooting pain up my arm. Gutted! I will persevere, but I will be sensible and do just a little at a time. I had set aside some jumpers to use too, and was looking forward to having a play. I don't know if it would help if I used a larger size hook, as I just went with what I had, which was only 6mm, so it does turn out quite dense! I will have a go, but all in good time....

I did do a cheeky little yarn order. Sensibly it was because I needed a joining colour, so I could actually finish an old wip,

 but as there was a drops sale, it would have been rude not to throw another pretty in the basket too!!

As I'm finishing projects. this meant I had nothing portable to do in lunch breaks. I decided to make some more flowers.

 If you remember these were from my monochrome cushion, but I have something different planned for these, but you'll have to stay tuned to find out what!

I'm still continuing with my floral mood blanket.

 It's growing well now, and I appreciated that it actually covers my legs now when I sew in the ends, as it was beneficial when we had a couple of chilly evenings!

Hobbies, new and old

It's all coming together, it just needs those blooms to decorate the edges...

We of course indulged on Shrove Tuesday...

And we tried out a new past time. Geocaching...

We failed on our first attempt, mainly due to the weather conditions, so just ended up wet, cold and stressed. But the following day armed with the correct coordinates, renewed enthusiasm and the rain keeping at bay, we had success. After finding our first one, this filled us with excitement and eagerness to continue. We found 5 in total, and felt very pleased with ourselves. I think we're hooked, which is positive as it will encourage us to venture outdoors more. It adds a whole new depth to going for a walk, and I don't think i'll ever look at a lamppost the same way again!!

I had a couple of days off work which enabled me to catch up with my floral mood blanket

So. as promised this week its time for my Crochet Mood blanket 2014, to have its moment of glory...

55 weeks of colourful squares

plus mini squares that filled out the irregular lengths

At 47" x 23", its not the biggest. But will be a great little lap blanket whilst snuggled on the sofa

Or to keep the tootsies warm in bed

It's certainly the biggest item i've made

from January 

through to December

This will certainly be a blanket to treasure for many years

As a little teaser, I have been working on the new corner to corner cushion

The two squares are complete and i've started the edging, so i'm hoping to get started on the decorative flowers this week. But more on this little one next week...

Of course the flowers have been growing each day

The first month of the year is through already

Thankfully its not been too bad a start.....
