Hooky time...

So this week I put aside the needle-felting as I fancied doing some more crochet.
I will go back and complete the butterfly soon, and promise to share the results!!

I went back to my ripple cushion, and added a few more rows. Its nice to go back to and its very relaxing to do and flows nicely, it is growing slowly but surely!!

I also had a rummage through my yarn stash!

I fancied having a go at trying to crochet with my pom-pom yarn. I had no idea what it would turn out like.

As i started to do single crochet stitches in between the bobbles.

I decided I would turn it in to a long skinny scarf ,which would purely be a decorative accessory.

I like the way that its curled as its grown.

There wont be a Handmade harbour post from me next week as me and hubby are off on a trip to Prague :)

Movies

American Pie - the reunion

Just over a decade on from the action of 1999 teen sex comedy American Pie, the characters descend on their hometown East Great Falls, Michigan for their ten-year high school reunion. Over the course of a wild weekend, sparks fly as Jim (Jason Biggs), Stifler (Sean William Scott), Oz (Chris Klein) and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) reconvene and reconnect. Jim and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) are still married, but things get wobbly when their next door neighbour develops a crush on Jim. Meanwhile, Stifler, stuck in a dead-end temping job, is having a hard time with the ladies, Oz (Chris) has hit the big time after winning a TV talent show, and Finch is still hankering after Stifler's 'MILF' mother.
**1/2 Dull, doesn't live up to the other pies

Battleship

Liam Neeson stars in this sci-fi action blockbuster based loosely on the classic board game. As the aliens unleash a terrifying barrage of destructive force on the Earth's population, Admiral Shane (Neeson), captain of the USS John Paul Jones, finds himself caught up in the fight of his life as he leads a fleet of ships into battle against the seemingly invincible extraterrestrial armada. Alexander SkarsgÄrd, Taylor Kitsch and pop singer Rihanna co-star.

Butterflies...

After finishing my heart collection I had a look for some different shaped cookie cutters, but other than online I couldnt find any.

I came across a silicone mould in a butterfly shape, so I felt sure I could utilise this. It didn't really work , even with putting a piece of pre-made felt at the bottom, it was too solid for the fibres to bind. However, I did use this as a template and I found that by just drawing any shape I could work upon this, which gives me great scope for any future shapes.

After using so much pink I went for a more vibrant orange.

Layered with some yellow and white.

After covering the front, I added some beads to add colour highlights.

Going on, I need to add the hanging ribbon, and felt across the back to build up the thickness, and find something, possible coloured wire to use for the antennae.

Mini handbag hearts

This week I havent had too much spare time, due to plenty of travelling for work.
I did however complete my Personalised Hearts, which i'd started last week.

I just needed to attatch the ribbon, by felting the backs of each heart, and add the buttons for a finishing touch!

I decided to go back to the smaller versions. I had found some little brads and I wondered if  I would be able to use these to adorn some mini hearts. I tried this by making the front of the heart, pushing the brad through, and then felting over the back.

So the 'Handbag Heart Charms' evolved.

I'm thinking I may look for some different shaped cookie cutters to try some different shapes and ideas to move this forward.

This weeks movies
